Ok, I will be the first to admit, I really do not know what constitutes a medical emergency. Since last year, I have been hospitalized nearly 6 times: 3 for heart/chest related issues, 2 for diabetes. I even went to the E/R two other times as well, but was not admitted at all.
What almost all of these had in common was that I did not feel particularly sick for the most part, didn't think that going to the E/R was necessary and that I would be wasting the Dr's and E/R staffs time.
I have this fear that I am overreacting when an illness ails me, and so I am very reluctant to go to the E/R as a general rule. Sometimes I have to have either friends or Dr's tell me quite blank that I need to go to the hospital, otherwise I will not think that it is all that serious and then not go.
In the past 7 days I've been to the E/R 3 times now. I was admitted 2 of those 3 times. One was for a high diabetes count, which I knew I had to go then and the other for shortness of breath. Both those times I took public transportation in. This just goes to show how lightly that I took it.
This 3rd time which was last night, I had tightness in my chest, I called 911. My blood pressure shot up a little bit, but went under control. Because I had already done a stress test on Thursday and passed, they didn't do anything related to my heart at all.
I was discharged only about 2 hours later. They decided that it was acid-reflux and anxiety related. Case and point I do not know when something is serious or not.
Feel free to comment.

When I look back on my life and where I was 10 years ago at this time, life was going pretty good. It wasn't great, but I think I was stronger back then all the while very depressed.
Church was going good back then although I found myself in a unhealthy relationship with someone. I think that they knew too that it was unhealthy, but I dunno. I was quite happy hanging out with this friend, but things need to be balanced, in which this wasn't, but anyway.
I think that while I am much more social now and enjoy life a bit more, I realize much more the despair and just how much I need Jesus in my life.
In the past 10 years I have dealt with 3 very bad big hauncho bosses. Now I've had good supervisors for the most part, but owners of companies where 2 blew off the handle over dumb stuff, and I really do mean dumb stuff, and one who was passive-aggressive. These things have broken me emotionally.
So am I strong now? Well kinda, more that I admit my weakness and through my weakness Jesus is strong, therefore I boast of my weaknesses so that Jesus will be magnified.

What is it with Craigslist? They have a personal ad section, but I have never connected with anyone, ever. Even for just friends. Even Christians who have responded seem just as fickle as well. They all want pictures and/or want to know what you do for a living as well. I've never met such a fickle set of people on a dating website.
I did meet someone on a Christian website who I do keep in touch with, however we have not met yet.
Still no real news on the temp assignment yet, but I called them today and they still say it is going to happen real soon, I just have to wait until the client calls back.

Job update, I have an official long term assignment with a temp agency. Hopefully it will go well as I cannot turn down work at all. I am also still getting my health insurance squared away too.
It will be good having some real money coming in again.
I talked to my Dr's office about my blood sugar level with my diabetes. They said that I was not getting accurate readings because I was taking it an hour after when I ate. They said that I should take it at least 4 hours after I have ate instead.
Kinda looking forward to the weekend, but we will see how things go.

About grass being greener on the other side. Those of you who know me know my great aggravation with a few of the people in Boston and its culture. The pace is way too fast, some people mow you down, etc. In recent years, what I have found out is that the vast majority of people in Boston are in fact nice (and yes, I was born and raised here), but its that arrogant 0.5% who bother the lights out of me.
Now how can 0.5% even be significant? Picture a city of 600,000 residents and a greater metropolitan area of 4,000,000. Lets say that in a given hour downtown that you come across, oh say 1,000 people. That would mean that out of 1,000 people, 5 of them are annoying. Ok, this may be a little high actually, but it only takes one of them to interrupt my peaceful serenity of life and Boston is beautiful.
So my point? A couple of weeks ago my pastor preached about what puts you into combative mode, that is where you lost your patients you are now impatient with people, etc. I said to myself, I never lose my patience, this has nothing to do with me! Then that very week I realized just how impatient I am!
So, back to my comment about the grass being greener on the other side. I decided that while you take yourself with you, that there is indeed a such thing as a geographical cure. Now sure, there will be annoyances in everyplace that you live. But the ones that annoy me the very most do not exist in a lot of other big cities sans New York City.
Just about everytime when I go on vacation, I am often more relaxed. Now my favorite city to go to? San Francisco. Now true, that is as a visitor and not as a resident. I am sure that the city has its own issues also, but there just seems something alluring about the place.
Anyway, I also read a lot of books on traveling, Frommers is my favorite. Back to Boston, I decided to see what a Frommers book might say about my fair city. I found a couple of things that I forgot about and other things that Bostonians never even think about.
To relax my mind a little bit, I am gonna try to do a couple of those things recommended in the Frommers book about Boston. That is when I get back into working again. More on that in the next posting.

Lets Trade Lives
While they say that the grass is greener on the other side, it probably isn't any spottier. Now that reminds me of something that I heard once. A man was dissatisfied with his life, so he went to St. Peter, and told him that he wasn't happy with his life. St. Peter told him that he could trade his life with anyone else's. So one by one, and up to 3 days, he tries one out. At the end of 3 days, he finds one and says I'll take this one. St. Peter than says to one of the angels, you know, that is the same life that he walked in here with.

Busy day today, lots to do. I have one temp job in the waiting, I just need to take the drug screen test. Oh boy, my favorite. 3 appointments in total. It could be a long day.
In other news, I got the song Peek-a-boo by Devo stuck in my head the past few days and I do not know why.
New song out by Sara Bareilles called King of Anything that I have started listening to. I seem to like it even if it is one of those songs with the typical secular woman "you don't own me" message of the day.
I want to go to San Francisco again. Their just seems to be so much to do there. It is not likely that I will be vacationing any time soon however, because of money and the lack of it.
My job assigment should be long term, so we will see how it goes.
Peace out!
Mike

Last year I was diagnosed with diabetes. I started taking medication and changing my diet. After a while, I started eating like I was and eventually stopped taking the medication, believing that Diabetes was a very gradual story.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, my eye sight started getting more blurry than usual, I was getting excessively thirsty and running to the bathroom a lot. My mouth was constantly dry too!
My old glucose meter died on me a few months ago and didn't bother to get it replaced right away. Knowing that something wasn't quite right, I bought a new one. When monitoring my sugar, it came over 600!
From advice of friends, I went to the hospital. My blood sugar went up to 800! The Dr's said that I was very fortunate and that I was only within hours of intensive care!
I was admitted and they did everything that they could to get my blood sugar down.
Bottom line, I thought that this wasn't anything serious, but turned out to be very serious instead! If you have diabetes, do take your medicine and eat right. Don't do what I did, your life might depend on it!

4AM, Work, Church, etc.
Its 4AM as I write, and once again I am up in the middle of the night. I've been having a hard time staying asleep lately and find myself napping during the day instead. This started about 3 months ago just after things started getting bad with my job.
While things have since calmed down a bit at work, waking up in the middle of the night and not able to sleep has become common place. I tend to go on the internet during those times, staying awake for about an hour and heading back to sleep, only to be awake again a few hours later and repeating the process.
There has been times when I have woken up and decided that it wasn't even worth going back to bed and just stayed awake until it was time to go to work or church.
Speaking of Church, I have been trying to get back into going as well. I still presently go to church in city of Boston, but is hard to get to, that is motivate myself to commute out there on Sundays. I am part of a lifegroup there though, which I am very happy with.
There is a church in my area that I hear is very good too, however I am apprehensive to going there as it is a Baptist church. Nothing against Baptists as they are strong on the word of God and salvation, but they tend to have legalistic rules that I am not so sure I could live by, but anyway.
So there you have it. Struggling to go to sleep and make it to church to. Hopefully I will make it today.
Blessings,
Mike

I Hate Losing Things
By my very nature, I am a disorganized person. As much as I try to be organized, I can't continue to manage being so. It is almost always something that I either need or want to find but can't at all.
Case in point, I was looking for a book that I was referencing earlier tonight, I could not find it, but in the process found several other things that have gone missing including my personal cell phone! I thought that was lost for good!
Anyway, while I found a bunch of stuff, I still did not find what I was looking for. This is very discouraging to me and puts me off kiester. Oh well, I know that it will pop up eventually.
Anyway, pray for me, one of these days I will learn my lesson and be organized.
