Update on the job situation

I got the job, they said that the position was created for me specifically. It is a long-term temp position. I am optimistic, but hoping that all goes well. I start on Monday. I can relax a little bit now knowing that I have a job in store.
What is it with Craigslist? They have a personal ad section, but I have never connected with anyone, ever. Even for just friends. Even Christians who have responded seem just as fickle as well. They all want pictures and/or want to know what you do for a living as well. I've never met such a fickle set of people on a dating website.

I did meet someone on a Christian website who I do keep in touch with, however we have not met yet.

Still no real news on the temp assignment yet, but I called them today and they still say it is going to happen real soon, I just have to wait until the client calls back.

Job update, I have an official long term assignment with a temp agency. Hopefully it will go well as I cannot turn down work at all. I am also still getting my health insurance squared away too.
It will be good having some real money coming in again.

I talked to my Dr's office about my blood sugar level with my diabetes. They said that I was not getting accurate readings because I was taking it an hour after when I ate. They said that I should take it at least 4 hours after I have ate instead.

Kinda looking forward to the weekend, but we will see how things go.

About grass being greener on the other side. Those of you who know me know my great aggravation with a few of the people in Boston and its culture. The pace is way too fast, some people mow you down, etc. In recent years, what I have found out is that the vast majority of people in Boston are in fact nice (and yes, I was born and raised here), but its that arrogant 0.5% who bother the lights out of me.

Now how can 0.5% even be significant? Picture a city of 600,000 residents and a greater metropolitan area of 4,000,000. Lets say that in a given hour downtown that you come across, oh say 1,000 people. That would mean that out of 1,000 people, 5 of them are annoying. Ok, this may be a little high actually, but it only takes one of them to interrupt my peaceful serenity of life and Boston is beautiful.

So my point? A couple of weeks ago my pastor preached about what puts you into combative mode, that is where you lost your patients you are now impatient with people, etc. I said to myself, I never lose my patience, this has nothing to do with me! Then that very week I realized just how impatient I am!

So, back to my comment about the grass being greener on the other side. I decided that while you take yourself with you, that there is indeed a such thing as a geographical cure. Now sure, there will be annoyances in everyplace that you live. But the ones that annoy me the very most do not exist in a lot of other big cities sans New York City.

Just about everytime when I go on vacation, I am often more relaxed. Now my favorite city to go to? San Francisco. Now true, that is as a visitor and not as a resident. I am sure that the city has its own issues also, but there just seems something alluring about the place.

Anyway, I also read a lot of books on traveling, Frommers is my favorite. Back to Boston, I decided to see what a Frommers book might say about my fair city. I found a couple of things that I forgot about and other things that Bostonians never even think about.

To relax my mind a little bit, I am gonna try to do a couple of those things recommended in the Frommers book about Boston. That is when I get back into working again. More on that in the next posting.

Lets Trade Lives

While they say that the grass is greener on the other side, it probably isn't any spottier. Now that reminds me of something that I heard once. A man was dissatisfied with his life, so he went to St. Peter, and told him that he wasn't happy with his life. St. Peter told him that he could trade his life with anyone else's. So one by one, and up to 3 days, he tries one out. At the end of 3 days, he finds one and says I'll take this one. St. Peter than says to one of the angels, you know, that is the same life that he walked in here with.

Busy day today, lots to do. I have one temp job in the waiting, I just need to take the drug screen test. Oh boy, my favorite. 3 appointments in total. It could be a long day.

In other news, I got the song Peek-a-boo by Devo stuck in my head the past few days and I do not know why.

New song out by Sara Bareilles called King of Anything that I have started listening to. I seem to like it even if it is one of those songs with the typical secular woman "you don't own me" message of the day.

I want to go to San Francisco again. Their just seems to be so much to do there. It is not likely that I will be vacationing any time soon however, because of money and the lack of it.

My job assigment should be long term, so we will see how it goes.

Peace out!

Mike
